At home

Home avoids a stressful journey and waiting room. Your companion remains in a familiar place, and the family has more privacy and time. It costs more and must be arranged in advance.

At a clinic

A clinic is usually less expensive and may be available sooner, especially when symptoms worsen unexpectedly. The trade-off is travel and a less familiar environment.

When a clinic is the safer choice

Acute breathing difficulty, uncontrolled bleeding, collapse, seizures or severe distress require immediate emergency veterinary care. Do not wait for a scheduled home visit.
