First rule out an emergency

Breathing difficulty, unresponsiveness, collapse, seizures, significant bleeding or severe pain require immediate emergency care. If you are uncertain, treat the situation as an emergency.

If death has been confirmed

Turn off heating, place the body on a blanket or towel in a cool shaded place, and give children or other pets distance if that feels right for the family. Body fluids may be released, so an absorbent layer can help.

Arrange the next step

Contact your regular veterinarian or an external provider of your choice. If requested, Gesher HaKeshet can connect you with a trusted external provider, who confirms availability, timing, terms and price directly with you.
